So what is I.P.M.? I.P.M. is a short form frequently used for the term INTEGRATED PEST
MANAGEMENT. In our I.P.M. programs pesticides are applied on a "prescription basis". This
basically means that we do not spray your lawn unless it has been diagnosed with a weed, insect, or disease problem.

Lawn Analysis (April)
This visit is used to establish the past history as well as the current state of your lawn. Past problems
would justify the need to use certain weed or insect prevention products. e.g. If you had a problem with
crabgrass last year we would apply crabgrass preventer to your lawn. If you had a problem with white grub last
year we would apply "Merit" to your lawn for the prevention of grub damage. If these problems were not
present in the previous years we will monitor for them in the coming year and spray only as necessary. The end
result will be the same. The only difference is that the pesticides are applied on a "prescription basis"
only as needed.
Four (4) fertilizer applications for the I.P.M. program - Spring, Early Summer, Late Summer and Fall
All plants and animals require proper nutrition in order to grow and enjoy good health. Applying the proper
fertilizer in the proper amounts at the proper time will produce a healthier lawn that is less susceptible to
weed, insect and disease infestation. In order to reduce pesticide use it is more important than ever to try
and produce a thicker healthier lawn. A superior feeding program is the backbone to any I.P.M. program.
I.P.M. Visits
During all I.P.M. visits we will be inspecting the lawn for weeds, insect, and disease infestation.
At each I.P.M. visit the customer will receive an "I.P.M. report card." This report card will inform
the customer of any weed, insect, or disease problems that were encountered. In addition the report card will
provide the customer with necessary tips (if needed) regarding watering, mowing height, excessive thatch, soil
compaction, etc. which are all important factors in any successful I.P.M. program.
During all I.P.M. visits we will be inspecting the lawn for weeds, insect, and disease infestation.
- Program E. I.P.M. Feeding Program includes:
- four (4) fertilizer applications
- core aeration with you fall fertilizer application to build a stronger root system and a thicker pest resistant lawn
- monitoring visits with report card
- no spray unless approved by homeowner
- Program F. I.P.M. Weed & Feed includes:
- four (4) fertilizer applications
- any spray applications necessary to keep your lawn free of crabgrass and broadleaf weeds
- monitoring visits with report card
With Program F we will advise you of insect and disease problems. Any spray applications
would be extra.
- Program G. I.P.M. Weed & Feed + Insect will give you everything the same as in program
F plus:
- any spray applications necessary to control: White Grub, Chinch Bug, Green Bug, Sod Webworm, etc.
With program G we will advise you of disease problems. Any spray applications for disease would be extra.
Advantages of an I.P.M. Program
- Healthy lawns will be built from the ground up using the following I.P.M. principles:
- lawn analysis
- nutrition
- constant monitoring for lawn problems
- education
- "prescription
use" of pesticides to treat weed, insect and disease problems
- correcting cultural/physiological problems
that may exist
- Through lawn analysis and constant monitoring for weed, insect, disease and cultural problems your
lawn will be receiving far greater and broader attention than ever before. It will be managed similar to that
of a golf course.
- Dollar value is excellent. Never before have we offered a program that will cover the control of
Broadleaf Weeds, Crabgrass, Chinch bug plus other surface insects as well as White Grubs, while monitoring and
providing reports for disease and cultural problems.
- Pesticides are applied on a "prescription basis." This basically means that we do not spray
your lawn unless it has been diagnosed with a weed, insect, or disease problem either in the past or present.
The bottom line is that I.P.M. does work. It works very well. We practice it at our homes, our shop
and for customers who have requested it in the past. This is the first year that we have decided to offer it in
an actual program format. As always if you do not see a program that suits your needs just give us a call and we
will customize one that does suit your needs.
