Grub Control
In the past several years we have been noticing a dramatic increase in European Chafer Grub damage in Essex and Kent
County. In the past our grub control products provided inconsistent control, involved complicated irrigation
requirements by the homeowner and quite often required multiple applications before adequate control was achieved. Thanks
to new technology a new Grub control product called Merit insecticide has been licensed for use in Ontario. Only one
application of Merit applied during the month of July will provide guaranteed results. Application is made during the
month of July in order to control grubs at their earliest stages of development. Merit will not control mature grubs.
We consider Merit to be a highly effective grub preventer. We GUARANTEE your lawn to remain free of serious grub damage
after an application of Merit insecticide. If serious grub damage appears later in the season in your lawn we will
treat the lawn with grub killer at no additional charge.
If you have had a grub problem in the past it is very likely that you will have one again in the future. Merit is your
key to preventative maintenance against grub damage in the coming year and remember that we GUARANTEE it.
Lawn Fertilization
All plants and animals require nutrients to grow and enjoy good health. Applying the proper fertilizer in proper
amounts at the proper time will produce a healthier landscape that is less susceptible to weed insect and disease
infestation. Not all fertilizer is created equal. We use only the highest quality fertilizer available, blended to
our specifications for use on turf. The blend we use is 20-5-10 where 50% of the nitrogen is in the slow release form.
This fertilizer usually lasts around 8 wks. Early application is the key to a proper balance between root a vegetative
growth in spring.
Organic Fertilizer Option
Customers now have the option to choose the use of Organic Fertilizer in their lawn care programs. We will be
using a Fortified Natural Organic Fertilizer plus Iron that is 75% Slow release. You are really going to like
this one!!! There will be two prices under each program. The price that has the words "organic option"
beside it will reflect the use of this fertilizer in that program.
Crabgrass Control
Crabgrass is an annual plant that comes from seed every year. It generally does not show up until July or August.
Crabgrass requires sunlight to germinate. The best defense against crabgrass is a dense well-fertilized lawn cut at a
height of 2-3 inches. If you have a history of crabgrass in your lawn we suggest having a crabgrass preventer applied
at the end of April, early May. We use the best crabgrass preventer available on the market. You don't even have to
water it in. It will even perform without irrigation. Our GUARANTEE is the best in the business. We will guarantee you
a lawn free of crabgrass for the entire season. If you notice any crabgrass, just give us a call and we will treat it
at no charge to you. All that and probably cheaper than if you put on your own crabgrass preventer.
Broadleaf Weed Control
Broadleaf weed control takes care of weeds like dandelion, chickweed, plantain, clover, creeping charlie (ground ivy),
and just about any weed that has a "Broad Leaf." Creeping Charlie is one of the toughest weeds that we
encounter. It has a moderate resistance to the weed killers used, and therefore may require 2 or even 3 treatments per
year. Weeds must be actively growing in order for the weed killer to work properly. It may take several weeks for a
weed to die under cool conditions. Control practices usually begin in May when weather permits. When we apply broadleaf
weed killer we GUARANTEE to kill all the weeds that were present at the time of application. If we do not, we will
return and apply a second treatment at no extra cost to you.
Chinch Bug / Surface Insect
The Chinch Bug is probably the most common insect pest that damages turf from above the soil. Chinch Bugs thrive under
dry, warm conditions. They can cause severe damage in a short period of time. Damaged areas first appear to wilt as
if dry, then turn yellow, and finally brown. Chinch Bug population usually peeks around the end of June, beginning of
July. This is the ideal time to apply insect control products. This treatment is also effective in controlling other
pests such as Sod Webworm, and Billbug, which may be present at that time. We GUARANTEE to control the surface
insects with this treatment, or we will return and apply a second treatment at no additional cost to you.
